History Comes Alive Through Your Support

Thanks to the hard work of the staff at French Creek State Park, the CCC Barracks that housed Camp SP17 "boys" has been stabilized and lovingly restored. There is much work yet to do, including the dream of housing a CCC museum in the Barracks and re-create some of the look and feel of the original building. Park Manager James Wassell said they’ve named the barracks "the Kintzer building" after the park’s first foreman who worked for the National Park Service in the 1930s. The hope is to continue to renovate other 1930s era buildings, including the original chapel of the camp, original shower building and two of original sleep quarters.
